Types of testing offered
The Texas High Plains Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (THPPDDL) can assist with any type of plant disease problem. Specifically, small grains, field crops, hemp, and vegetables. Lab tests are available for the detection of most plant pathogens. Nematode detection services are not offered by THPPDDL.
Specialized testing available
Please contact either THPPDDL, the Texas Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (TPDDL), or the Texas Plant Virus Diagnostic Laboratory (TPVDL) if there is need for specific testing of plant material for plant disease problems.
Turn-around time
Turn around time is dependent on specimen load that is received. Diagnosis can take as little as a few hours (same day), or during peak times, up to 11-21 days, depending on the specific test(s) being run. Specimens requiring extensive testing require more time. For example, oak wilt testing takes a minimum of 21 days. Diagnostic results are routinely emailed to the client, but results can also be faxed or mailed.
